Prepare your ears for five works by Dronæment, Ellende, Ornament, Ovum and Sparkle In Grey and stay tuned for more news about them.

On December 11, The Afeman will play a DJ-set at Lab12 in Vigevano, Italy, feeding the crowd with the best
tunes taken from the most frantic Afe releases and from all those great CD-Rs released by other small labels or self-released by the artists themselves. Another exclusive "Teddy Bear" mp3 remix is available right now!
Just a couple of weeks passed since the day we uploaded Norm's cover version of Teddy Bear, and here we're now introducing another new gorgeous cover: this time aal has stripped the original track down to its essential structure creating a guitar/voice/synth gentle lullaby. You can download his precious work here.

Forthcoming Afe releases
As usual, we're a bit late on our forthcoming releases that will be out before the end of the year... Once again, a few words about them: "Allein... Unter Menschen" is the re-issue of one of the earliest Dronæment tapes and was originally released by Nauze [Muzick] in 1999. "Eld" is an unreleased fifty minutes long track by Karl Midholm, better known as Ovum, and will be released in a very special cardboard package in collaboration with Blade Records. "Peak Experience" was the first widely available Maeror Tri tape and will be re-issued, once again in collaboration with Blade Records, in a very special wood package. Probably we'll also be able to bring to your attention Ellende's "Heroin" and Sparkle In Grey's "The Echoes of Thiiings / Fadiiing Echoes" along with them. We cross our fingers and keep on working.October 23, 2004

A new exclusive "Teddy Bear" mp3 remix
Ta-dah! At last Norm completed their own cover version of Teddy Bear and we're happiest to present it here. Once again the question is: will the Teddy Bear saga ever end? Who will be the next? We have a clue about it, other new mixes will probably be available soon!

Manuele Cecconello "Live" DVD-R + CD-R
Prospettiva Nevskij has just released Manuele Cecconello's "Live" DVD-R + CD-R. Manuele is an independent director and video artists from Biella, Italy. The "Live" DVD-R contains four of his acclaimed videos. Soundtracks to the videos were created by Luca Sigurtà, Fhievel and other musicians. The audio tracks on the companion CD-R include music by Luca Sigurtà, Fhievel, Logoplasm, Sparkle in Grey and Never Known. This release is obviously limited, so hurry up if you don't want to miss it!

We are currently working on our forthcoming releases that will probably be out during October: "Allein... We won't be able to reply to incoming e-mails, and all order received during the month of August won't be processed until September. We wish everybody a wonderful summertime: see you in September!

Hot in the city
Yes, it's getting really hot here at Afe Headquarters... Heat is killing us, so our latest releases are getting distributed very, very, very slowly. The best way to put your hands on them at the moment is to have a look in our mail order section and get in touch with us before we enter stand-by mode at the end of this month...

June 16, 2004

Finally, after a few months of silence and with a little bit of delay as usual, it's our greatest pleasure to bring you our first 2004 releases. We truly hope that the long waiting will be compensated by this beautiful three new works. Here we go:

Telepherique + Maurizio Bianchi: "Zehn Tage (Touka)"
"Zehn Tage (Touka)" is a very special work born from the great friendship of two well-known estabilshed artists. The album concept is focused on the uselessness of time calculation compared to the precision of time itself. The disc title ("Ten Days", in english) refers and is dedicated to those forgotten days of History that were arbitrariously severed off in October 1582 during the Pope Gregorius XIII's Western Calendar Reformation. "Zehn Tage (Touka)" could be described best as a good mixture of Ambient and Concrete music: as in the best Afe record's tradition, it's not afraid of breaking down those genre boundaries, sliding further into psychedelic-tinged rhytmical territories. This is the very first collaboration in Maurizio Bianchi's rather long musical career and also the first Afe CD release.

De Fabriek: "Quatro-Erogenic-Occupy Theme's Part II"
The core members of De Fabriek created the main tracks for this album and provided tons of samples to Hue (...of Sparkle In Grey and Normality / Edge fame...) who integrated them with the music, created a few new tracks, reworked the lot adding more and more layers of his own sounds and did a magnificent mix which was later finalised for production by The Afeman himself. The main theme and inspiration for "Quatro-Erogenic-Occupy Theme's Part II" comes from close encounters, otherworldy lifeforms, contactism and the whole space/alien cover-up, myth or truth in general. The whole disc has obviously a space taste and showcases beautiful Kraut-Rock oriented ballads, weird voices and vocal oddities, mantrically mysterious acoustic instruments and percussions, space-guitars, old fashioned synthesizers and electronics.

Luca Sigurtà: "La Vera Macchina D'Argento"
"La Vera Macchina D'Argento" was composed and recorded by Luca Sigurtà in 2003 using many different sources/instruments such as broken/faulty discs, environmental/field-recordings, guitars, percussions, various objects and self-built devices. To enhance the intimate feeling of the music, according to the author's fascination with low volume levels, and the nature of the recordings themselves, the disc was mastered at -3dB and is better experienced when listened in relax mode with or without headphones at a low volume. The disc is co-released as a friendly joint-venture between Afe Records and S'agita Recordings.

Forthcoming Afe releases - update
So, at last we are about to add three new great entries in the evergrowing Afe catalogue... Release date for the new works by Telepherique + Maurizio Bianchi, De Fabriek and Luca Sigurtà was set to late May a few weeks ago. All graphics and artworks are undergoing the printing process right now and should be ready very soon. We truly hope we don't have to wait too long to receive the CD copies of "Zehn Tage (Touka)" because this could delay the release date a little bit. Anyway, it's just a matter of few weeks... Detailed information about "Quatro-Erogenic-Occupy Theme's Part II" and "La Vera Macchina D'Argento" are available now, so have a look at them.

Record of Shadows Infinite
A diverse collection of contemporary neo-minimalism and cinematic audio experimentation was recently released in the USA by Crucial Blast. "Record of Shadows Infinite" brings together eerie twilight drones, harrowing field-recordings, intoxicating soundscapes and hazy psychedelic ambience from across the globe. It includes exclusive contributes by Amon, Troum, Chaos As Shelter, Francisco Lopez and many other artists. A few copies are available through the Afe mail order.

April 17, 2004

Forthcoming Afe releases
Release date for the next bunch of Afe releases is set: late May will finally bring to your attention three new works by Telepherique + Maurizio Bianchi, De Fabriek and Luca Sigurtà. Detailed information about each of these releases is going to appear on this page very soon!

Sinewaves presents: origine comune
The "Origine Comune / Common Origin" web compilation was released on Sinewaves on April the 1st; it includes tracks created by aal, Andrea Marutti, Ether, (etre), Mou, Lips!, Mugen, Punck, Sparkle In Grey, S.talker Inc and many more.

The inspiring idea behind this project was to analyze some of the wide possibilities offered by both analogical and digital sound technologies in order to create and to edit sounds. Each artist was asked to create a track starting from a common sample given by Sinewaves; absolute freedom was granted to the artists in the creative process in order to point out their innovative skills to adapt forms, materials, sounds or ideas.

Sinewaves is a webzine devoted to art in general, especially to the new electonic medias. This is their first web release, needless to say we hope there will be more in the future!

Bad news...
Well, your favourite Afeman is experiencing some serious personal problems these days and you may have noticed that the Afeman's blog is temporarily closed since mid February. Unfortunately it looks like this situation is not going to change very soon... We're sorry to inform you that most of the scheduled releases are delayed until further notice. Anyway, the Afe website was massively updated recently: have a look around and don't forget to visit the mp3 page. More news are hopefully coming soon, stay tuned.
