Brian Lavelle was born in 1972 in Glasgow, Scotland and now lives in Edinburgh. He has been creating music for more than fifteen years using a variety of electronic devices.

His compositions showcase resonant and textural layers of digital material, drones and processed field recordings.

His most famous works are probably the "Radios" series, composed along with Richard Youngs, but we can't help mentioning his wonderful "How To Construct A Time Machine" guitar suite released by Staalplaat's subsidiary Bake Records and "fault/r", released on Microwave Records back in 2000.

The "Radios" series is a ten album set of conceptual releases, each focused on a particular set of sound sources, processes and the notion of chiasmus.

Brian was a member of Inversion along with Alistair Crosbie (...also of d/compute fame...) an electronic duo which recorded constantly over a number of years. Very little of that material saw the light of day, other than a few cassette releases, but they've now started to record again, this time under their own names, and a new disc entitled "Disused" has recently been released by Lefthand Pressings in 2008. A retrospective Inversion's earlier work will be released at some point in 2009 on Diophantine Solutions.

Along with Alistair Crosbie and Murray Johnston he was also involved in No Input, a one-off improvising trio. They recorded one album entitled "04082001", released at the end of 2001, and have now ceased activities.

He performed at the Earational 2001 electronic music festival in The Netherlands. Over the last ten years or so, he has also performed infrequently in the United Kingdom.

Brian curated the techNOH online mp3 label between 2000 and 2003. All techNOH releases are being made available again, thanks to Jos Smolders of EARLabs.

During the most recent years, Brian had many releases out both on digital and physical medias on labels such as Earlabs, Dust Unsettled, Alg-a, Lefthand Pressings, Diophantine Discs and EE Tapes.

Afe released his "A Stuffed Crocodile" way back in 2001. His album "Ustrina" was also released on Afe in October 2008.
